JOURNAL ENTRIES UNIT 1

How do we know that we know anything at all?

It is difficult to answer this question since we really don't know if we know anything. It is easy to think that we are all in a dream, that people do not actually exist. But by thinking that way that is something you know because you know what is a dream, you know that there is a possibility that people do not exist, but the question is how do we know all of this possibilities if there is a possibility that all of those philosophies are true.

If you had to lose 1 of your 5 senses which would it be? Why? How would your life and perception of the world change?

If I had to lose 1 of my 5 senses it would be smell. Even though smelling is a sense that helps you persieve food, sources, and good smells you could also persieve bad smells that are disgusting. For me disgusting smells make me crazy because I hate that it is smelling so nice and then a bad smell comes and ruins your whole day. Also the smell percieves you a different taste since how it smells it is going to tell you a hint if it tastes good or badly.

So how would it change my perception in life and in the world? It would change since smelling is one of the five important senses. Also like I have mentioned before, by smelling food it gives you a perception on wheather or not it will be any good. Another good point is when you know that a food went bad you use your smelling sense in order to see if it is edible.

"Perception is Reality"... Explain this quote. Is this true or not? Explain your answer.

Perception is the ability to see, hear and become aware of something through your senses. I think that this quote is true because how you percieve some things are the way they turn out to be, but it can also not be true on how you percieve people. Sometimes you may percieve someone as a bad person and they trun out to be completely different.

Which is the most powerful emotion? Why?

For me the most powerful emotion is sadness because is the one that affects you the most. By sadness comes with depression.

"Do not become angry when others question your beliefs... be calm and loving, for anger is the root of faulty belief." -Leon Brown

I believe that this quote is very true, since anger is the only thing that will bring you and your relationships down. You should always know that there exists many haters that don't think the same way as you, that is why you should just hear the facts because you may change your own perspective or the other person may have a very good point. Also the second part of the quote is very acurate since anger is the root of faulty belief because anger doesn't give you anything to win it just gives you something to lose.

Who do you believe has influenced your beliefs and way of thinking most? Why? How have they influenced these things?

I think that the people who have influenced my belifs are my parents since they are the ones who taught me everything I know. They are also the ones who tell you about God the first times you start to learn and about life itself.
